How We Make Money

VPNFind publishes exactly how we earn revenue, including affiliate commission rates for every VPN we review. Full financial transparency.

Most VPN review sites hide their financial incentives. We publish ours. Here is exactly how VPNFind generates revenue and why we believe transparency builds trust.

Our Revenue Sources

1. VPN Affiliate Commissions (Primary)

When you click a link on VPNFind and purchase a VPN subscription, we may earn a commission from the VPN provider. This is our primary revenue source. Here are the exact rates:

| VPN Provider | Commission Rate | Cookie Duration | We Earn Money? | |-------------|----------------|-----------------|----------------| | NordVPN | 40-100% first payment + 30% recurring | 30 days | Yes | | ExpressVPN | $13-36 per sale | 90 days | Yes | | Surfshark | 40% + 10% recurring | 30 days | Yes | | CyberGhost | $25-100 per sale | 45 days | Yes | | PIA | 100% first month + 30% recurring | 30 days | Yes | | Proton VPN | 40% recurring | 90 days | Yes | | Mullvad | No affiliate program | N/A | No | | IVPN | No affiliate program | N/A | No |

Why We Show This

Two reasons:

Trust: You should know when someone has a financial incentive to recommend something. When we recommend NordVPN, you deserve to know that we earn up to 100% of the first payment if you subscribe through our link. That financial relationship exists whether or not we disclose it - we choose to disclose it.

Credibility through honesty: We review and recommend Mullvad and IVPN despite earning nothing from them. When we say a VPN is good, you can verify that our recommendation is based on testing, not commission rates.

What Affiliate Revenue Does NOT Influence

  • Review scores: Our scoring methodology is published and applied consistently across all providers, regardless of affiliate relationships.
  • Rankings: The order of our rankings is determined by test results, not commission rates.
  • Coverage decisions: We review VPNs that pay us nothing (Mullvad, IVPN) because they deserve coverage.
  • Criticism: We highlight weaknesses honestly, including for VPNs that pay us well. Read our NordVPN review - we clearly state the lack of open-source apps and high renewal pricing despite NordVPN being our highest-paying partner.

Future Revenue Plans

As VPNFind grows, we plan to diversify revenue:

  • Display advertising (after reaching 50K+ monthly visitors): Non-intrusive ads via privacy-respecting networks
  • Email newsletter: Weekly privacy digest with relevant product recommendations
  • Premium membership: Ad-free experience, price alerts, and premium tool features

These will supplement, not replace, affiliate revenue. We will update this page as we add revenue sources.

What We Spend Money On

  • VPN subscriptions for every provider we review (purchased with our own money)
  • Testing infrastructure and tools
  • Content creation and research
  • Hosting and development

The Bottom Line

We make money when you buy VPNs through our links. We believe you should know that. We also believe that publishing our rates, reviewing VPNs that pay us nothing, and being honest about weaknesses is the right way to build a review business. If you disagree, we welcome the feedback.
